A long, winding path led me back to Providence, RI, near my hometown of Swansea, MA, after living in 5 other states (for grad school in sociology, a post-doc in writing-across-the-curriculum, and a couple of visiting professorships). Prior to moving back to Rhode Island, I lived in Salem, MA for 7 years. In addition to editing, I teach occasional online sociology courses for the University of Maryland University College.
Over the years, I have moved a lot and lost touch with many wonderful friends and colleagues in the process. I welcome any friends, colleagues, students, clients (past, present, and possible future) to connect with me on Facebook and/or LinkedIn.

I have been editing academic manuscripts since 1994, when I was working on a co-edited volume, Eating Agendas: Food and Nutrition as Social Problems, with Jeffery Sobal, a nutritional sociologist at Cornell University. Two other edited volumes followed, and my first single-authored book, Vegetarianism: Movement or Moment?, was published by Temple University Press in April 2002.
Yoga and vegetarianism have been an integral part of my life for a long time. Music, too, has long been important to me, starting with community theatre in high school and singing in the Hendricks Chapel Choir as a voice major at Syracuse University in my late teens. I am now studying Hindustani classical singing with Soma Sarkar.

Here are Sara and Olivia, who keep me company while I work at the computer!
